Setting up Projects
The Projects page enables you to manipulate various aspects of your survey projects. It enables you to upload projects to your AskAnywhere server, delete projects from your server, test the HTML and Java versions of your questionnaires, show what questionnaires are currently in memory, and download the AskAnywhere CAPI application.
Uploading Projects
The Upload Projects link enables you to upload AskAnywhere projects (*.ask files) created with the AskAnywhere Editor. For example, if you create a questionnaire with the AskAnywhere Editor and save that questionnaire as a project, this link enables you to upload that project to the AskAnywhere server for use by respondents. To upload a project, complete the following steps.
 - From the Project page, select Upload Project.
 - In the Path to Project File field, enter the path to the project you want to upload. If you do not know the path to the desired project file, select Browse to help you find the path. After you have the path entered, select Upload Project.
 - The following screen appears. Enter the desired information and select Save.
- The Questionnaire Name field contains the name of the questionnaire. The system defaults the appropriate file name. You cannot modify the value in this field.
- The Title field contains the title that appears in the title bar of the questionnaire. The system defaults the Questionnaire Name in this field. If you want to change the title of this questionnaire, enter the desired title in this field.
- The Data File field contains the name of the file that stores the data collected with this questionnaire. Enter the desired data file name in this field. Refer to Accessing Survey Data for more information.
- The Survey Exit URL field defines the location to where respondents will be redirected when they are done with the questionnaire. Enter the desired URL, if appropriate. If you do not enter a value in this field, the system will either return the respondent to the first page of the questionnaire or close the window when they have completed the questionnaire. Note: For questionnaires that will be taken via WAP devices, the Survey Exit URL field must point to a WML page. If the questionnaire may be taken via a variety of devices (some WAP, some not), you may want the Survey Exit URL to point to a script file that you have written to determine the appropriate URL for that specific device (e.g., HTML or WML page).
- The System Variable Presets field enables you to define variable and value pairs to be used in the questionnaire as system variables. This option enables you to predefine system variables as an alternative to creating them in the questionnaire. Refer to the Survey Instrument System Variables section of the AskAnywhere Editor User’s Guide for more information about system variables.
Note: These parameter are read in pairs (e.g., key:value) and delimited by commas (e.g., var1:value1,var2:value2,var3:value3).
- The Turn Questionnaire On field is a toggle that enables you to turn the questionnaire on and off. If the questionnaire is on, respondents have access to the questionnaire. If the questionnaire is off, respondents do not have access to the questionnaire.
- The Save System Variables to Data File field enables you to specify whether you want the system variable presets saved to the data file.
- The Applet Start Image field enables you to define an image to use to start the questionnaire and have the applet open an exclusive window for the questionnaire.
Testing Questionnaires
Once you have uploaded projects to the AskAnywhere server, you can test them to determine if everything is functioning properly. To test the questionnaires, complete the following steps.
 - From the Projects page, select the desired questionnaire.
 - You can now test the HTML or Java version of the questionnaire.
- To test the HTML version of the questionnaire, select Test HTML Version.
- To test the Java version of the questionnaire, select Test Java Version.
Deleting Projects
To delete an uploaded project from the AskAnywhere server, complete the following steps.
 - From the Projects page, select the desired project.
 - Select Remove xxx Project (where “xxx” is the name of the project).
 - The system asks you to verify that you really want to delete this project from the AskAnywhere server. To delete the project, select Remove Project. To cancel the deletion, select Cancel.
Showing Loaded Questionnaires
The Show Loaded Questionnaires link enables you to view a list of questionnaires currently loaded into memory on the AskAnywhere server.
Downloading AskAnywhere CAPI Application
The CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewer) module of AskAnywhere is a JAVA application that can run on any computer or PDA on which a JAVA virtual machine can be installed. It runs as a stand-alone application but needs to communicate with your AskAnywhere Administrator for certain operations, among them, the survey data transfer. To download the base installation for the CAPI module, complete the following steps.
 - From the Projects page, select Download AskAnywhere CAPI Application.
 - The File Download window appears. Select Save.
- To cancel the download, select Cancel.
- To obtain more information, select More Info.
 - The Save As window appears. Specify the location of the current JFielderApp.jar file and select Save to replace the JFielderApp.jar file with this signed one. This signed jar file contains the license and address information that uniquely identifies the CAPI application and enables it to communicate with the AskAnywhere Administrator (provided you are a licensed user of the CAPI AskAnywhere component). To cancel the download, select Cancel.
 - The Download Complete window appears. To acknowledge the download, select Close.
