Bowling Green, Ohio, November 10, 2000 - Senecio Software Inc. has completed the initial phase of its Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) mobile system for election day "Get Out The Vote" campaigns.
VoterCheck™ is a mobile phone/Internet-based system for use in election day "Get Out The Vote"(GOTV) efforts. Based on the latest wireless and Internet technologies, VoterCheck™ makes it possible for volunteers at polling sites to access and quickly update voter registration lists on the Internet using a WAP-enable mobile phone.
Dr. Jerry Wicks, President of Senecio Software points out that "major election day GOTV campaigns can be far more efficient with VoterCheck™. With VoterCheck™ and a web-ready mobile phone, GOTV campaigns can be completed in less time, require fewer volunteers and, since the VoterCheck™ calling cycle is online, campaigns can choose to either distribute their calling efforts locally among individual volunteers or centralize that effort from anywhere in the world. Moreover, since the database is online, campaign directors can receive "heads-up" on important precincts and races, thereby allowing them to allocate resources to critical races at the very last minute ."
"Our plans call for the further refinement of VoterCheck™ and the addition of several powerful new database features," said Dr. Wicks. "Given the overall growth in the mobile market, the steadily expanding adoption of the wireless web, and the rapid increase in these services by the major players in the U.S. and Canada, we expect several important business opportunities to arise from this project as well as a number of new system designs. The whole mobile commerce field is just beginning to develop and we feel fortunate to have completed a significant research and development project this early in the game."
